Taste Charts Identify Taste Trends For 2022 With Relevance To Senior Living and Healthcare Menus

Kerry, the taste and nutrition company has released its annual Taste Charts for 2022.  They identify the flavors and ingredients that consumers are looking for. Combining their proprietary insights along with analysis of menu trends, ingredient labels, consumer preferences, social media chatter, chef-led innovation and their experience of supporting thousands of new product launches across the globe, Kerry’s culinary and beverage experts predict taste for the coming year.  This is Kerry’s proprietary view into the flavor and ingredients that shape the taste market across sweet, beverage, savory and salty snack categories as well as nutrition.    

Like many others, Kerry identifies plant alternative dishes being emphasized for nutrition and sustainability.  They point out that although it’s an important growth category, plant alternative dishes are a relatively small, but emerging trend for the food industry.

It is especially helpful to see trends in terms of Mainstream, Key, Up & Coming and Emerging.  For example, in the sweet category, Peanut Butter and Caramel are mainstream flavors where Up & Coming flavors such as Matcha Tea or Anise can be used when we want to be innovative and build some excitement on the menu.
