Poll Results: "Where are you on IDDSI Implementation?

As IDDSI implementation gains momentum, you might ask yourself, “Are we making enough progress on integrating IDDSI into our organization?”.  You also may be wondering how far along others are on their IDDSI journey.

How do you compare?

The progress on IDDSI implementation

At Roche Dietitians, we have been monitoring IDDSI implementation since 2018.  Because we offer training to so many interested in IDDSI, we have had the opportunity to ask the same question since 2018.

Here is how we present the polling question during our webinars:

“Where are you on IDDSI implementation?”

  1. Just learning about IDDSI

  2. Aware of IDDSI but no plans yet

  3. Starting implementation

  4. Have started implementation

  5. Are well into implementation

2018-2019

Here are the poll results from the first two years.  We asked the question to over 700 webinar participants.

Our Findings

Below are the polling results from 2018 to March 2022 and the most recent polling results (February and March 2022):

Bottom Line

The number of those who have completely implemented IDDSI is growing but still low.  We speculate that COVID has sidelined many in their IDDSI efforts.  Just under half of the 2022 respondents have started implementation.   To us, this seems reasonable because regardless of COVID, as we all have been discovering, IDDSI implementation is complex. It involves an interdisciplinary approach with buy-in from many stakeholders.  IDDSI implementation means significant changes to recipes and menus along with the development of training that will require ongoing reinforcement.

Don’t Go at it Alone

The good news is that in the years that passed since we have started polling, many resources have been developed to help you throughout your IDDSI journey.  Here are some of the ways we at Roche Dietitians can help you:

  • Roche Dietitian’s IDDSI “We Test for Safety” Training Materials:

    • No need to start from scratch. Whether it be a small project to handling it all, our consulting services can provide you with the essential tools and resources you will need to support you along the way.
